Dumb Ways to Die
Dumb Ways to Die is a funny arcade game based on a public service music video featuring silly characters who die in all kinds of stupid ways. Your aim in this game is to help those same silly beans avoid the various dangers and stay alive. React as quickly as you can to survive each level!
How do you play Dumb Ways to Die?
In this avoiding game you have to help the empty-headed little beans dodge a bunch of deadly dangers. Instructions will flash on screen and you’ll have to respond immediately. Duck, jump, or run away as the situation requires. The more points you score, the more characters you can unlock.
The levels will appear in a random order, but with each level you manage to complete without dying, the pace will pick up, speeding up each subsequent level. Can you keep reacting quickly enough to survive? Unlock the points you need to fill your train station with all the characters from the original music video like Numpty, Hapless, Pillock, and Dippy.
This game features 82 minigames. Once you finish them all and collect the complete cast, you’ll unlock the original music video.
What’s the story behind the Dumb Ways to Die games?
Dumb Ways to Die was created as a public service announcement by the Metro Trains rail network of Melbourne, Australia. Metro Trains Melbourne wanted to create a campaign around rail safety, but thought that a normal PSA video would probably fail to grab the attention of a younger audience.
So, they decided to create a viral song with a funny music video and matching game series instead. You can still find the original music video online (that is, if you’d rather not wait until you can unlock it within the game). Though it’s not so apparent at the start of the video, you’ll notice the theme of railway safety features more prominently toward the end.
How many Dumb Ways to Die games are there?
You probably already caught it in the previous paragraph: this game is part of a series. There are a number of hilarious sequels you can try next. Check out Dumb Ways to Die 2 and Dumb Ways to Die 3 on our website as well. In addition, Dumb Ways to Die 4 is expected to be released later this year.
When was Dumb Ways to Die first published?
The HTML5 version of the game, shown above, was first released in September of 2019.
The original iOS game app by Metro Trains Melbourne is older, though. That version was released on May 6, 2013. The Android version followed in September of the same year.
Who made Dumb Ways to Die?
The original public service campaign edition of Dumb Ways to Die was released by Metro Trains Melbourne. However, the browser and mobile-web version of this game that you’ll find above was developed by MarketJS.
The HTML5 game producer MarketJS is also the maker of games such as Interstellar Run, and the Instadiva Kylie Dress Up and Instadiva Nikki Dress Up Tutorial games.
